Jeff Lahr is in his 16th year as Winthrop Head Athletic Trainer. A native of Whitehouse, Ohio, Lahr earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Toledo in 1989 and received his master's degree from Michigan State in 1993.
He is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and is a state certified member of the South Carolina Athletic Trainers Association (SCATA). He began his professional career as the Head Athletic Trainer at North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina. He was the first certified athletic trainer in that school's history.
Jeff has participated in various events throughout his career. While at Michigan State, he had the opportunity to travel with the Spartan football team to the 1989 Jeep Eagle Aloha Bowl in Honolulu, Hawaii. During his time as the Head Athletic Trainer at North Carolina Central, Lahr served as one of the host athletic trainers at the 1994 NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships.
Lahr has also participated in a number of different events during his time at Winthrop, including medical coverage of the first Charlotte Sting WNBA try out camp and the AAU Junior Olympics that were hosted by the City of Charlotte in 1997.
Jeff is now serving on the College and University Committee for the South Carolina Athletic Trainers Association.
During the year, Lahr is the athletic trainer for the men's basketball team and oversees all of the other sports teams.
Lahr and his wife Marta reside in Rock Hill. They are the parents of three children, A.J., age 14, Tyler, age 13 and Kendall, age 11.
