CHARLOTTE, NC--Winthrop senior Rachel Smith has been named the Choice Hotels Big South Co-Women's Golfer of the Week Coastal Carolina senior Aruka Felgueroso, it was announced today by the Conference office.  The honors are for events played Feb. 28-March 17.

Smith (Mansfield, TX) won medalist honors earlier this week at the Winthrop University Intercollegiate.  She finished with a 12-over 228 (78-77-73) to win the event by five strokes.  It was her first career win, and her play helped Winthrop to a third-place team finish.  Smith also was Winthrop's top finisher at the March 1-2 USA Lady Jaguar Invitational, tying for 13^th with a 54-hole score of 233 (77-76-80), which was two strokes out of the top 10.
