Women's Golf Finishes In 11th Place At USA Lady Jaguar Invitational (3-3-10)

MOBILE, AL – The Winthrop women's golf team finished in 11th place in the 16-team field at the USA Lady Jaguar Invitational, which was hosted by the University of South Alabama.
The Lady Eagles shot a 54-hole total score of 968 (310-324-334) as they finished 55 shots by the tournament champion Memphis. The Tigers shot a two day total of 913.
Winthrop was led by senior Rachel Smith (Mansfield, TX), who finished tied for 13th place in the tournament after shooting a three-round score of 233 (77-76-80).
The Lady Eagles had a total of five players participate in the two-day event. Sophomores Allison Itria (Lubbock, TX) and Kayla Cline (Socorro, NM) finished tied for 48th place after both shot a 246. Itria shot an 80-82-84 in her three rounds, while Cline finished with scores of 73-86-87. Freshman Danielle Dunnagan finished tied for 58th place after shooting a 249 (80-83-86) and Katie Keiser was 61st with a 251 (84-83-84).
Marissa Steen of Memphis and Lauren Cate of Stetson finished six-over-par to tie for first place. Steen would win the tournament in a playoff over Cate.
Winthrop will be back in action on Mar. 15-16 as it hosts the Winthrop Intercollegiate at the Rock Hill Country Club.
