ROCK HILL, SC—Winthrop rising sophomore pitcher Eric Ruth, a 5-11, 175-lb. righthander from Hatfield, PA, has been selected to play in the 2010 New England Collegiate Baseball League's All-Star game which will be held on Sunday, July 18, in Newport, RI.
Ruth, who pitches for the Sanford Mainers in the Eastern Division of the NECBL, has appeared 15 games in short relief and has compiled a 1-1 record with three saves and a 2.35 earned run average. In 15.1 innings of work, he has recorded 24 strike outs while walking only two batters. His team is currently tied for third in the division with a 16-13 record.
As a freshman this past season for the Eagles, Ruth appeared in 28 games and compiled a 1-0 record with a 6.55 ERA. In 34.1 innings he struck out 30 batters and walked 15.
