ROCK HILL, SC—Winthrop women's golf team members Rachel Smith and Katie Bolling have been named to the 2010 National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team for Division I.
For Smith, a May 2010 graduate from Mansfield, TX, it marks the fourth time in her career that she has received the honor. She compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.726 while majoring in marketing during her four-year career. Bolling, a rising junior from New Brighton, MN, received the award for the second time after achieving a 3.947 GPA as a biochemistry major.
The criteria for selection to the NGCA All-American team are among the most stringent in all of collegiate athletics. To earn the award, golfers must maintain at least a 3.50 GPA and must have competed in at least 50 percent of the school's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
