Winthrop Volleyball Team Hosts 2010 Carolina Challenge by Hilton Garden Inn
2010 Carolina Challenge Will Be Played In The Winthrop Coliseum This Weekend

ROCK HILL, SC--The Winthrop volleyball team will make its 2010 home debut this weekend when the Eagles play host to the Carolina Challenge by Hilton Garden Inn that features Clemson, South Carolina and College of Charleston in the two-day event that will be played in the Winthrop Coliseum.
After opening the season last weekend with a 1-2 record in The Tribe Invitational in Williamsburg, VA,, Winthrop Head Coach Sally Polhamus will send her Eagles against College of Charleston's Cougars on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. That match will follow the tournament opener between in-state rivals Clemson and USC at 5 p.m.
On Saturday, a total of four matches will be played beginning with the Winthrop vs. Clemson match at 10 a.m. South Carolina and College of Charleston will tangle at noon. The evening matches will pair CofC against Clemson at 5:30 p.m. followed by Winthrop and South Carolina at 7:30.
Clemson, at 3-0 after capturing its own Big Orange Bash last weekend, is the only undefeated team in the tourney. College of Charleston is 3-1 after finishing second in the Northern Illinois Invitational while South Carolina is looking for its first victory after going 0-3 in the State Farm Illini Classic.
Admission each day will be $5 for adults and $3 for children and senior citizens. Winthrop students, faculty and staff are admitted free with a valid ID card.
