CHARLOTTE, NC-- Alice Garcia (Brasilia, Brazil) is named the Big South Crons Brand Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive week.  The Big South Conference officials gave out the weekly honors Tuesday afternoon.  Gardner-Webb's senior Erica White (Charleston, WV) was named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Player of the Week.

Alice Garcia was undefeated this past week in the matches she played.  Garcia played both her singles matches in the No. 3 position.  Friday Garcia defeated Marshall's Dana Oppinger, 6-2, 6-0 and on Saturday defeated Penn State's Devan McCluskey, 5-7, 6-2, 6-2.  Garcia played both her doubles matches with Giovanna Portioli in the No. 2 spot.  Together they beat Marshall's Kara Kucin and Ellie Ball, 8-2, and defeated Penn State's Jacquelline Zuhse and Katherine Whiteaway, 8-6.  

Garcia's singles and doubles record are identical as she has a 4-3 overall record in both and has won her last three matches in both rounds.  Garcia also has a 1-0 record against ITA ranked opponents. Garcia has been teamed up with Portioli in doubles play for every match on the season. When the two of them win their doubles match, Garcia has gone on to win her singles match.
