Office of Compliance Mission Statement
Winthrop University Department of Athletics is committed to operating a Division I Department of Athletics within the rules and regulations of the NCAA, Big South Conference and the university. Each Winthrop University staff member who is involved in the operation of the athletics department is charged with the responsibility of gaining and maintaining appropriate knowledge of all rules and reporting any infraction of these rules.
The Department of Athletics is committed to abide by NCAA, Big South Conference and institutional rules and regulations through:

Educating all members of the Department of Athletics staff of the rules and their responsibility for abiding by the rules;

Setting up operating and monitoring systems to provide assistance in following all rules and regulations; and

Discovery and reporting of any rules violations.
Principle of Administrative Awareness and Institutional Control
Winthrop University assumes responsibility for the control of its Department of Athletics in compliance with the policies of the Winthrop University Board of Trustees and the NCAA. The Chief Executive Officer is aware of and responsible for all aspects of the promotion and administration of the Department of Athletics and provides for institutional control of those areas.
