This will be the first of two meetings between the two teams this season, with the return match taking place in Rock Hill on Wed., Apr. 10. From 2007-2015, The Citadel won 14 of the next 18 meetings. But since then, Winthrop has struck back by winning 10 of the next 12. The Eagles won both contests from the Bulldogs last season in 2023, a 4-3 victory in Rock Hill on Mar. 1 and followed it up with an 8-4 victory in Charleston on Apr. 4.
