ROCK HILL, SC--Winthrop's Carey Phillips finished 13th and Casey Lyons finished 12th in their respective races to lead the Eagle women and men in the 21st Asics Winthrop Cross Country Invitational which attracted over 400 runners on Saturday morning.

As a team, the Winthrop women finished 11th out of 17 Division I schools while the men's squad was 7th out of 14 teams.

Phillips, a junior from Chesnee, SC, covered the 5K distance in a time of 18:45.  Lyons, a sophomore from Kent Island, MD, ran the men's 8K course in a time of 25:35. 

Louisville's Tarah McKay claimed the women's individual title with a time of 17:05 as she led her Cardinal squad to the team title with 29 points.  Three other UofL runners finished in the top 10.  On the men's side, Louisville also dominated with five runners finishing among the top 10.  The Cardinal men, who were ranked last week among the nation's top 30 teams, were led by individual winner Scott McClain who finished with a time of 24:51.

Winthrop women's sophomore Carly Moss had a 20th place finish with a time of 18:59.  Other finishers for the Eagle women and their times are as follows:  Lisa Sickman (67th, 20:00; Robin Smith (72nd, 20:38); Tori Koterba (73rd, 20:43); Amy Rundio (80th, 20:55:

Finishing behind Lyons for the Winthrop men was senior Gaines Bailey who came in 29th in a time of 26:23.  Other finishers for the Eagle men were: Adam Leroux (42nd, 26:54); Ben Henderson (45th, 27:00); Jonathan Fazzary (51st, 27:16); Kyle Carufe (59th, 27:54); Dustin Ubbing (62nd, 28:20).
