PINEHURST, NC--The Winthrop women's golf team is tied for 8th place after an opening round 310 in the 2009 Pinehurst Fall Challenge which is being held at Pinehurst #6.

Sophomore Kayla Cline is in the top 20 on the leader board after shooting a 4-over score of 76 on Monday over the 6,004-yard layout.

The College of Charleston, the host school for the event, stands in first place after 18 holes of the scheduled 36-hole tournament after shooting a 291 team score. 

The final round is set for Tuesday morning.
