BOONE, NC-- Ashley Howard led a trio of victories for the Eagles indoor track & field team at the Appalachian State Invite, Thursday evening.
Howard heaved the weight to a school record 57'11” to claim first place in the event. Howard then returned an hour later to claim 2nd place in the shot put with a toss of 40'2”. Joining Howard on the victory stand was junior Sasha Robinson. Robinson won her second consecutive 400m dash with the time of 57.23. Freshman Sharone Honor captured 1st in the 55m hurdles in 8.45 to narrowly out lean Senior Sarah Young's time of 8.46.
Travis Coleman continued to improve this year with a season best toss of 50'5” in the shot put, good enough for second place. Lisa Sickman also garnered a 2nd place showing with a time of
5:28.3 in the mile run. Billy Pierce captured 3rd in the shot put while Freshmen Charles Sulick (400m) and AJ Fitzsimmons (mile) also claimed top three spots.
The Eagles full squad will compete next week in the Big South Championships at Clemson University on Saturday and Sunday February 27-28.
