RADFORD, VA—The Winthrop men's tennis team was awarded eight Big South honors at the conference awards ceremony in Radford, VA.

Nadav Ruppin and Sergey Belov were named to the All-Conference in singles as their records were 11-10 (5-1) and 8-11 (4-1), respectively. In doubles, Winthrop's no. 1 duo Belov and Daniel Daudt and no. 2 duo Ruppin and Guy Kubi were also named to the All-Conference in doubles as their records were 9-8 (3-2) and 11-8 (6-0), respectively.

Ruppin was also the no. 2 singles champion, while Dejon Bivens was the no. 4 singles champion. In doubles, Ruppin and Kubi were the Big South no. 2 doubles champion.

Ruppin was also named to the Big South All-Academic Team.

Gardner-Webb's Evgeny Slesarevr and Radford's head coach Mike Anderson were voted the 2009 Big South Men's Tennis Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively.

With the awards ceremony, the 2010 Big South Tennis Championship in Radford, VA, has officially started. The no. 2 seed Winthrop will play its first round of the tournament against no. 7 seed Presbyterian College at 1 p.m. on Thursday.
