Freshman Duo Lead Women's Tennis Performance At Wake Forest Fall Invitational

ROCK HILL, SC--A pair of freshman turned in winning performances over the weekend at the Wake Forest Fall Invitational which was held in Winston-Salem, NC.

Caitlin Cridland(Perth, Australia) and Alice Garcia (Brasillia, Brazil) won their flights as Cridland defeated Alex Tachovsky from Louisville 6-0, 6-1in the final of the flight D and Garcia defeated Jen Miller of Stetson 6-1, 6-2 in the flight E final.

Senior Giovanna Portiolli (Curitibba, Brazil) and sophomore Ekin Gunaysu (Ankara, Turkey) also had solid tournaments as Portiolli finished 4th in the B flight and Gunaysu won two matches in the C flight. Winthrop will be back in action in Winston-Salem in two weeks when it competes in the ITA Regionals.
