Baseball Team Gets Involved In Community Service Projects During Fall

Players Talked About Drug Awareness During Red Ribbon Week
ROCK HILL, SC--The Winthrop baseball team has wrapped up a busy fall semester that ended two weeks ago with the completion of the Eagle World Series and has also included two community service projects.

For the third consecutive year, Coach Tom Riginos' team volunteered to work the Big South Conference 5K Road Race that is held to benefit local middle school athletic programs.
 
Five student-athletes along with Riginos took part in the St Anne's Catholic School  Red Ribbon Week which is held to promote drug awareness .  Riginos, Matt Pierpont, Drew Hardee, Austen Barber, Mitchell Knox, and Mark Lowrie participated in a school assembly.  while the five players took part in a skit with the Beta Club on the dangers of drug use in athletics,  The Winthrop coach along with Pierpont and Hardee  spoke to the assembled students about the daily schedule of an athlete and the dangers of drug use in athletics.
