ROCK HILL, SC--Winthrop Athletics has announced that Saturday afternoon's home basketball game with Barber-Scotia College has been postponed until a later date at the request of Sabers head coach Marcus Pryor, who informed Winthrop head coach Pat Kelsey on Friday evening that his team has been impacted by the blizzard that hit the northeast Thursday night.
According to Pryor, the winter storm has prevented five members of his team from returning to campus following the holiday break, and another two players are unable to play due to injury, leaving him without enough players to compete on Saturday. .The game had been scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
Winthrop Athletic Director Tom Hickman says efforts will be made to reschedule the game for a later date at which time all tickets for the Jan. 4 game will be honored.
