GAME INFORMATION
RECORD: Winthrop (13-9) | Rider (3-8) | Marshall (19-3)
WINTHROP LEADERS: Reese Basinger (W, CG, ER, BB, 11K)
WHAT HAPPENED
vs. Rider
- Neither team got much going over the first three innings as each had only one better reach and never past first base
- In the top of the fourth, KaDedra Temple reached on a fielder's choice and then scored all the way from first as Macy McCall doubled to left center
- Two batters later Kaitlyn Tucker singled to left, scoring McCall for a 2-0 lead
- Reese Basinger held Rider hitless for six innings before finally allowing two in the seventh
- A leadoff single by Maddie Luedtke got it started for Rider as two batters later Olivia Burroughs doubled to right center to score Luedtke from second
- Basinger then struck out Brianna Koonce to end the game
at Marshall
- Thundering Herd pushed two across in the bottom of the first for the early lead
- The leadoff batter Alex Coleman led off with a single off the end of the bat that just fell over the head of Kaitlyn Tucker as she tried to chase it down
- That was followed by a single off the leg of Winthrop pitcher Sydney Boulware that allowed Sydney Bickel to reach on a single and Coleman to move to second safely
- Then Grace Chelemen reached on an error by Temple at second which allowed a runner to score and put runners at the corners
- A couple batters later Rielly Lucas fouled out to right field territory near the dugout and on the play Bickel tagged and race home for a 2-0 lead
- In the bottom of the third inning, Chelemen hit what looked like a fly ball to center as McCall looked to be getting under it but then turned and jogged toward the wall as the wind helped push the ball over the fence to give Marshall a 4-0 advantage
- Temple got the Eagles on the scoreboard in the top of the 4th as she smashed the first pitch deep to left for her third homer of the season
- In the bottom of the fourth Marshall added to its lead with a three-run home run to right center by Autumn Owen

- This is the second time in her last three starts she struck out 11 batters and now has five games with 11 or more on the season
